From Princes to Empress...

When writing about Princes Maxima, I suddenly thought of Meg Whitmen, CEO of eBay. Very recently, Fortune called her "the Empress of eBay who still rules Silicon Valley". Yes, I am a big fan of Maxima, but the leader of the company I work for is indeed even more impressive...

Beauty and Pierre

Yesterday I read in the NRC, a Dutch newspaper, that Pierre Omidyar the founder of eBay and one of the wealthiest people in the world has granted 100 Million dollars for a Micro Financing project.

I truly believe that Micro Financing is one of the best ways of giving sustainable aid to third world countries, as it is a great leaver if not prerequisite for loads of people, specifically women, to personally improve their live and that of their families' in a long lasting, sustainable way.

A dollar earned is much more worth than a dollar given. I'll bore you another time with my thoughts on liberalism... but did you know our own Princes Maxima promoted the United Nations ā€¯International Year of Microcreditā€¯?

Francine's First Posting

Hi there,

My name is Francine. I work for eBay and Marktplaats in the Netherlands. This is the first time in my life that I post some of my thoughts on the Internet (at least deliberately). I'll try to write in English, sorry if I make any mistakes (Google, when are you finally going to release a spelling check-tool in Blogger that doesn't use pop-ups?- ok, I understand Google Earth is cooler to work on..)

I am a very happy camper, not really into sharing my life with everyone, so that you, reader, can Big Brother me. Unfortunately some guys from work try to show off with their own blogs so ofcourse I can't stay behind :-)

Well, hope you'll enjoy my writings.

Cheers,
Francine
